7 Speed Reading- User Manual

The reading and comprehension tests in the 7 Speed Reading system help you see how much your skill has improved, and how close you are to achieving your current goals. The system uses the results of these tests to set the speed for the exercises and activities. These tests are also used to update your progress tracking charts, which is another feature you can use to make sure you are keeping to your practice schedule and reaching the milestones you have set for yourself as you improve your speed reading abilities.

Reading Tests

Reading tests are included at the beginning and end of each of the lesson modules in the 3X Reading Speed series in the main Courses section. You can also take a reading test at any time by selecting "Reading" under the Test Yourself series in the main Courses section. In the two reading tests, you will be asked to choose one of the specially-selected text passages from the list provided.

There are also two reading tests available in the main Training section, under "Tests." The standard reading test also uses one of the specially-selected text passages to measure your reading rate. However, when you choose the test labeled "Reading Test - Library," the system uses the text you have selected as your current text. See "Viewing and Selecting Texts" for more information on how to change your current text.

The results of the reading tests are collected by the system and used to create the Reading Speed chart and the Effective Reading Speed chart. The system also uses the results to set your current reading rate, which will affect the display speed of many of the exercises and activities.

Comprehension Tests

You can take a comprehension test at any time. This test is the best way to make sure that you are not trying to increase your speed at the expense of your overall reading ability. Remember, if you don't understand and remember what you read, you will have to read it over again, and that will slow down your reading speed in the end.

You can find the comprehension tests under "Test Yourself" in the main Courses section or "Tests" in the main Training section. These tests use specific stored text selections designed to test your memory and comprehension. You can choose any of the text selections, but only from the list provided when the test begins, not from the main 7 Speed Reading e-library.

The results of the comprehension tests are also collected by the system and used to create both the Comprehension chart and the Effective Reading Speed chart.
