Eye Health and Warmups

Whether you are reading text in a printed book, in a newspaper, on an e-reader, or on a computer screen, your eyes are doing a lot of work. In addition, there are specific issues related to online reading, and you need to know how to reduce your chances of risk and injury when it comes to your eyes. The first part of the 7 Speed Reading training introduces you to different aspects of reading, and provides tips on how to keep your eyes healthy. Watch the "Eye and Body Health" video series to learn about ways to adjust your on-screen display, set up your workspace, and take care of the most important tool you have when it comes to reading: your eyes!

Eye Warmups

The lessons in the 7 Speed Reading courses and drills require your eyes to work hard. This means that you need to warm up the muscles in your eyes before you begin, just as you would warm up the muscles of your legs before you go jogging, play sports, or run a marathon. Go through the guided video series in the "Eye Warmups" section before you start the focused lessons on how to triple your reading speed.

Each time you come back to practice with the 7 Speed Reading session, do at least one of the eye warmups before you begin. The Standard Warmup will help you get through a normal practice session of 15-20 minutes without causing eyestrain.
